Franklin Lakes School Board Welcomes New Superintendent
Franklin Lakes - The Board of Education welcomed the district’s new Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lydia Furnari, who was unanimously named to the position in March and began her tenure on July 1.Furnari replaced outgoing Superintendent Frank Romano, who tendered his resignation in April 2013 effective June 30, the end of his four-year contract. He departed the district at a salary of $209,000 and has taken the superintendent’s position with the Ridgefield K-12 district.Furnani will earn a base salary of $145,000 with the opportunity to earn up to 15 percent of her salary in merit bonuses.She previously served as the director of curriculum with the Department of Instruction with the Montclair Board of Education and served as a principal and a director at the elementary and secondary levels for the Elizabeth school district, having opened a new school facility as a building principal.While with Elizabeth, Furnari was named Administrator of the Year by the New Jersey Music Educators Association and received the National School Change Award from the National Principals Leadership Institute. As an administrator with the Montclair public schools, Furnari participated on the model curriculum team for the New Jersey Department of Education and served as a middle states’ evaluator.Furnari is an adjunct professor at Caldwell University, where she teaches courses in administration and supervision in the graduate department.- See more at: http://www.northjersey.com/news/business/career-news/franklin-lakes-welcomes-its-new-superintendent-...
