Well, before the bison can bat an eyelash… you have driven through it! Midland Park is a small community with a population under 8,000. Best known for a few unique stores and restaurants and of course being saddled between Wyckoff and Ridgewood; it is the affordable zip code in Bergen County.
What’s different in Midland Park?
The Depot located at 22 Prospect Street, Midland Park (201-444-6120) is a gift shop serviced completely by volunteers. The most unique homemade crafts are available for sale: candles, seasonal gifts, baby items and more but bring your wallet this is not your typical ‘craft and gift shop’.
Where to dine in Midland Park?
There are a host of places to grab a quick bite to eat but one of the best spots to sit and enjoy a good meal is Arturos. For those of us who have been around a bit longer, the location is right around the corner from the old, stately Wortendyke spot from years (and I mean years) ago. Arturos is located at 41 Central Ave, Midland Park. Check out their menu at Arturos.com - the lunch menu will make your mouth water – veal and chicken dishes plus something for the vegetarian style diet. Easy access, plenty of parking and depending on what time your dining adventure is over, stroll over to the Wortendyke Station Pottery Studio to walk off your meal.
For the Artistic Crowd!
Nestled off an old existing railroad track [in a railroad station] that most of us have driven over a thousand times – Wortendyke Station Pottery Studio provides extensive ceramic and pottery classes for the young and old. It’s been years since my last class at the studio but instruction was fun, the camaraderie was great and artful progress was sufficient. Classes are just starting so contact the studio and get ready to play with some mud and of course, be creative! The Pottery Studio is located at 211 Greenwood Ave, Midland Park, NJ (201.652.5882).
Considering buying or shopping at the ‘affordable zip code’ – Midland Park. It’s a great town to call home!
